FireGiant was founded in January of 2013 by Rob Mensching and Kirk Fertitta. Rob and Kirk share a passion for developer tools and have spent the bulk of their careers working in this space.

With the explosive growth in the use of WiX, Rob and Kirk saw the need to bring commercial-grade support to the WiX Toolset and have mobilized a team that includes many of the same developers that have been building WiX itself for years.

Rob's career began as an intern at Microsoft in 1998 where he created Orca—the original tool for viewing MSI files and a vital component for diagnosing installation issues on the Windows platform.

Since that time, Rob has become one of the world's leading authorities on software deployment. As a Principal Software Design Engineer at Microsoft, Rob tackled setup and deployment issues in Microsoft Office, Windows, and Visual Studio.

Rob holds a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from the University of Missouri-Rolla (now Missouri S&T).

Kirk's software career began more than 25 years ago at IBM, where he worked on the development of software simulators for the RS6000.

Since that time, Kirk has founded and led two other software companies—one building semiconductor fabrication software and the other creating developer tools for the electronic test and measurement industry. Products from these ventures serve developers in companies such as Boeing, BAE Systems, Hewlett-Packard, Keysight Technologies, Honeywell and EADS.

Kirk holds Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.

WiX Online Meeting 307 Highlights \ We held our last meeting a week early so it's been five weeks between meetings. It took a little bit to get back into the groove of things. Luckily, we had a relatively small number of bugs and none that suggested I inadvertently introduced a bunch of bugs into the recently-released WiX v7. So things are looking up as we look forward to Northern Hemisphere summer.\
